So many details…

image

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I hope this week makes up for it. Starting off with some gorgeous Chicago home tours that offer grand formal rooms, beautiful construction and details to architecture. The rooms have a lot of character in the moldings and pillars to the ceiling designs. Some have weathered walls, gorgeous lacquered woodpaneling (like the picture above) and lots of plush upholstery and rugs. Nothing makes a home feel homey and comfortable than plush textures like velvets, cashmere and silk. I hope you enjoy…

Now if this isn’t a good use of space, I don’t know what is. How perfect to use a narrow area for built-ins deep enough to store books. You can have your own little library. The fixtures and that rug stand out for me…

These are the weathered walls I spoke of. How beautiful. There are so many other alternatives to give a room color than paint and wallpaper…

I notice the repeated use of hexagon rugs and I like it. Love these drawer handles…

A dark ceiling works when the walls are kept light and there is a lot of natural lighting. This tour has an emphasis on art where sculptures are displayed on pedestals and one wall has only one art piece….

Here is another home that has a lot of patterns and color but a simple black and white kitchen palette.

This console table is slick. I can see this being an IKEA diy project for a small table using wallpaper or even snakeskin textured duct tape…

I still never got tired of the campaign desks…

Lastly, let us take a moment to appreciate details in the final home…
