the thanksgiving holiday is a few days away and kitchens across the country are gearing up for the big family feast. it’s a little different here at my house — i’m cooking this year and in our smith-family tradition we go british and forgo the turkey for prime rib, mashed potatoes, and most importantly yorkshire pudding — along with a few side dishes like roasted Brussels sprouts, and my mum’s favorite: rutabagas. but regardless of what you’re putting on your thanksgiving table, it ought to be pretty, right? call me an anarchist but i’m not a fan of harvest colors, so i like to keep things simple — loads of candlelight, white linens and dishes for sure, and very often i’ll use fresh herbs like sage and rosemary tied with twine as a napkin ring. i went looking for a little more inspiration this year, since it is the first holiday in my new place, and low and behold, there was plenty. what are you setting the table with this year — any special thanksgiving traditions or new ideas you’d like to share?
